Ford Lightning vs. Chevrolet Silverado EV

The first-ever Chevrolet Silverado electric vehicle (EV) won’t hit the market until at least the fall of this year, but you’ve probably heard some buzz about it. You can expect the Silverado to have similar standard safety features as the Lightning, such as lane-keep assist, a forward collision alert system, and automatic emergency braking. However, the F-150 Lightning also offers a standard blind-spot warning with cross-traffic alert even at the base trim level.

Technology-wise, the Ford Lightning will offer an available 15.5-inch touch screen with its tried and true SYNC 4A infotainment system. While the Silverado has an available 17.7-inch display screen, Chevy is going with an all-new infotainment system that hasn’t been put to the test. We’ll have to wait and see how it compares after it’s released later this year.

Ford Lightning vs. Hyundai SANTA CRUZ

So far, the Ford Lightning beats the Hyundai SANTA CRUZ in the EV market, but this is only because Hyundai’s CEO just announced that the company will likely bring an electric truck to the market. Most enthusiasts are expecting something similar to the SANTA CRUZ, and everyone believes that whatever they produce, it will definitely be competition for the Lightning. Right now, the gas-powered SANTA CRUZ only puts out 181 lb-ft of torque, whereas the Lightning produces an impressive 775 lb-ft of torque. It’s hard to imagine what the torque would look like for an electric SANTA CRUZ.

Hyundai may have to up its game in the technology department as well if it wants to beat out the Ford Lightning. The available 10.25-inch display screen the SANTA CRUZ currently offers makes it harder to interact with apps and other features while driving safely. In the Lightning, you can get a much larger touch screen that makes it easy to see maps and use other apps and features without distractions. Until we have more information about Hyundai’s future electric truck, we can only guess what it might offer, but we’re not worried. The Lightning can stand on its own.

Ford Lightning vs. GMC Hummer EV Pickup

Another electric truck that’s soon to hit the market is the GMC Hummer EV Pickup. This truck boasts three motors that provide up to 1,000 hp, but the weight of the extra motor is likely to affect the truck’s range, which GMC estimates will be up to 329 miles in the EV Edition 1 model. This puts the Hummer EV slightly above the 320-mile range the F-150 Lightning extended-range battery offers, but the Hummer has yet to be real-world tested.

Both the Lightning and Hummer EV trucks have front storage space where the engine used to sit. In the Hummer EV truck, you’ll only have 11.3 cubic feet of storage space in the eTrunk, just enough to store the roof panels if you take them off. The trunk in the Lightning offers 14.1 cubic feet of space as well as four 120-volt outlets and two USB charging ports for your convenience. Both trucks offer hands-free driving in compatible locations, but the larger touch screen in the Lightning makes it easier to handle navigation while you’re on the road.
