The 2027 Ford F-150 introduces a 3.0L EcoBoost V6 in place of the 2.7L EcoBoost, adds 5.0L V8 availability on King Ranch and selected Platinum configurations, and brings available BlueCruise with Towing. Other changes include new Tremor and Raptor equipment groups, an XLT Carhartt package with late availability, and a revised color selection.
For shoppers comparing model years in Huntsville, the useful question is which changes affect the truck you want to buy. Engine, cab, wheelbase, drivetrain and equipment group still determine which features can be ordered together.
Looking beyond the model-year changes? Our 2027 Ford F-150 guide to trims, engines, towing and PowerBoost compares configurations, explains payload and BlueCruise with Towing, and links to Ford’s VIN towing calculator.

The main changes for the 2027 F-150
| Area | What changes for 2027 | What to check when shopping |
|---|---|---|
| EcoBoost engine lineup | The new 3.0L EcoBoost V6 replaces the 2.7L EcoBoost. | Confirm engine availability for your cab, wheelbase and drivetrain. |
| King Ranch and Platinum | The 5.0L V8 becomes optional on King Ranch and Platinum, excluding Platinum Plus 703A. | Platinum Plus 703A uses the 3.5L PowerBoost hybrid; compare the engine options for your equipment group. |
| Driver assistance | BlueCruise with Towing joins the available technology. | Verify BlueCruise equipment, an active plan or trial, and trailer eligibility. |
| XLT Carhartt package | A new package is listed with late availability. | The guide specifies XLT 302A, a 145-inch wheelbase, 4×4 and Crew Cab; it excludes the 3.0L engine. |
| Off-road trims | Tremor adds 400A and Raptor adds 800A equipment groups. | Compare the equipment group as well as the trim name. |
| Exterior colors | New choices include Birch Sand, Neptune Blue and Wild Green. | Check color availability on your chosen trim and package. |
A new 3.0L EcoBoost and more V8 choices
The engine change is a clear distinction between the two model years: Ford lists the 2.7L EcoBoost as deleted for 2027 and introduces the 3.0L EcoBoost V6. That does not mean every 2027 F-150 uses the new engine. Availability depends on the truck’s configuration.
The 5.0L V8 becomes an option on King Ranch 600A and 601A and Platinum 700A, 701A and 702A. Platinum Plus 703A uses the 3.5L PowerBoost hybrid and does not offer the V8. If you want a V8 in one of the eligible configurations, that is a specific reason to include the 2027 model in your comparison.
Choose an engine around the work the truck will do. A model-wide maximum towing number does not describe every F-150. Check the selected truck’s equipment, ratings and payload label against your passengers, cargo and loaded trailer. Our F-150 trim and towing guide explains the information to gather before choosing a configuration.

Have the VIN for a truck you own or are considering? Follow the link above to Ford’s public calculator to look up its towing information. Ford currently identifies this tool as supporting F-Series trucks. If it does not recognize a particular VIN, ask our team for help checking that truck’s configuration.
Review the results together with the truck’s labels, applicable towing guide and owner’s manual. Passengers, cargo, accessories and trailer tongue weight all matter when checking the truck and trailer combination.
What BlueCruise with Towing means for buyers
Ford introduces available BlueCruise with Towing on the 2027 F-150. It supports hands-free driving while towing on eligible, prequalified highway sections. It requires a BlueCruise-equipped vehicle and an active plan or trial; trailer type, size and weight restrictions apply. Not every BlueCruise function operates while towing.
The driver must remain attentive and ready to control the vehicle. This is driver assistance, not autonomous towing. Ask about the equipment on the exact truck and review Ford’s operating requirements before relying on the feature. Ford’s 2027 F-150 announcement explains the feature and its limitations.
The new XLT Carhartt package has specific requirements
The Carhartt package adds coordinated exterior and interior details, including unique 20-inch wheels, branded badging, a themed interior, floor mats and a spray-in bedliner.
Ford’s September 15, 2026 order information lists it as an option on XLT 302A with a 145-inch wheelbase, 4×4 and Crew Cab. It is not available with the 3.0L engine or the listed XLT Black Appearance, Black Appearance Plus and Chrome packages.
The guide marks Carhartt as late availability. Confirm current ordering status and expected timing before making plans around this package; its appearance in the guide is not a statement that a matching truck is on our lot.
Equipment groups and colors deserve a second look
The new Tremor 400A and Raptor 800A groups make the equipment-group number an important part of a model-year comparison. A truck with the same trim badge can have a different combination of comfort, convenience and technology features.
The 2027 changes also include Birch Sand, Neptune Blue and Wild Green, while Antimatter Blue Metallic, Argon Blue and Avalanche are listed as deleted. Availability varies by configuration. If a particular color matters to you, compare actual trucks and current order choices.
Should you choose a 2026 or a 2027 F-150?
Start with the features you need and your timing. A 2026 truck may suit you if its configuration matches your requirements and it is available when you need it. Include the 2027 in your comparison if you want to explore the new 3.0L engine, a V8 King Ranch or eligible Platinum configuration, BlueCruise with Towing, or the Carhartt package.
Compare actual equipment, availability and current pricing. A new model year does not automatically make every configuration a better fit, and the order guide does not establish a dealer’s current selling price or delivery date.
2027 F-150 questions
Does the 2027 F-150 still offer the 2.7L EcoBoost?
The September 15, 2026 product-change list removes the 2.7L EcoBoost and adds the 3.0L EcoBoost V6. Check the engine offered on the configuration you are ordering.
Can you get a 2027 King Ranch or Platinum with the 5.0L V8?
Yes, on King Ranch 600A/601A and Platinum 700A/701A/702A. Platinum Plus 703A uses the 3.5L PowerBoost hybrid and does not offer the V8.
Is BlueCruise with Towing standard on every 2027 F-150?
No. It requires the appropriate BlueCruise equipment and an active plan or trial, and use is subject to road and trailer restrictions.
Can the Carhartt package be paired with the 3.0L engine?
No. Ford’s September 15, 2026 order information specifically excludes that combination.
